Glebe’s leafy coworking space and event venue, Seed Spaces, is an oasis for individuals and small businesses looking to nurture purpose-driven goals. The light-filled warehouse opened its doors in 2020, with sustainability considered at every step.
The space is decked out with upcycled timber desks and stylish pre-loved chairs, is powered by a carbon-neutral energy supplier, and offers refillable and recycled kitchen and bathroom supplies.
The group’s space manager Zara says setting up as a TerraCycle public drop-off point was “a no-brainer.”
“As an impact-driven business it just made sense to be part of minimising landfill and maximising the use of products and resources. Also as a community-driven business, it made sense to be a public drop-off for the Glebe community.”

Seed members and local visitors can bring recycling to Seed’s collection station between 8.30am and 5.30pm, Monday-Friday. Seed Spaces collects items for TerraCycle’s Olay Free Recycling Program (which accepts all brands of skincare) and the Colgate Oral Care Free Recycling Program (which accepts all brands of oral care).
“We chose these three programs as we wanted to provide the most useful public drop-off point possible. We felt the Olay and Colgate programs were for common personal items that most people would need to dispose of regularly,” Zara says.
The recycling station is located conveniently beside the front door, with secondhand collection boxes housed inside a cleverly converted old metal locker. Zara and the team have made it super easy for everyone to recycle responsibly and avoid ‘wishcycling’ by displaying posters with accepted items for each program.
“Once the boxes are full I’m going to use one of the cardboard boxes we have lying around after events. I’ll decant our collection box into one of those, download the free shipping label from the TerraCycle site, and take it to AusPost around the corner.”

“People have responded really well. A lot of our members were so excited – being impact-driven, they just thought it was amazing. And as an event space it’s been a great talking point and for spreading [recycling] information,” Zara says.
